The Market in Puntagorda
The market
Every Saturday and Sunday the covered market in Puntagorda is open.
On Saturdays from 15.00 until 19.00 and
on Sundays from 11.00 until 15.00
The market sells only products grown or produced on the island.

There are about 40 stalls selling a wide variety of products, including:

Olives etc.
Fresh (cream) cakes.
Traditional Palmero biscuits and cake.
A butcher, usually with pork, beef and chicken and often with goat and rabbit depending on the season.
Goats Cheese.
Fresh locally grown strawberries.
Fresh locally grown fruit and vegetables.
Plants for the garden.
Sugar cane press with sugar-cane based drinks.
Aloe Vera plants, creams and health drink.
Puntagorda's own cigar maker is usually busy rolling cigars from La Palma tobacco.
Wine from the North and West of La Palma.
Fresh bread (German baker).
Honey from Garafia.

The are stalls selling:
Pottery, photographs and postcards, leather ware,
La Palma T-shirts, baskets etc.

Note: Not all stalls are present every day.

The kiosk
The kiosk at the Puntagorda Market sells the usual 'bar' produce including local wines, beer, Canary island rum, and liqueurs.

You can also eat at the kiosk. The menu may vary from day to day but usually includes bocadillo (filled roll) with pork or chicken, a meal of pork-steak and chips, or just chips.

A hot favourite with Palmeros is Churros. This is something like a doughnut-stick (but not quite) deep fried in oil and served sprinkled with sugar.

El Fayal
The Puntagorda Market is directly opposite the El Fayal forest and the "Refugio". The Refugio contains several covered barbecue areas, complete with a supply of wood, worktops and sinks with running water. This area is popular with Palmeros especially in the weekend when families meet and eat in the shade of the pine trees.
