Almond blossom
Almond blossom
Every year parts of La Palma are covered with the blossom of the almond trees. The 'blossom season' usually begins around mid-January and ends at the end of February or beginning of March depending on the weather.
The main almond areas are Puntagorda, Tijarafe, Las Tricias and El Paso.

There are more photographs on our sister web site the Isla de La Palma Guide.
Specifically Almonds and Puntagorda

Almond Festival
Every year the Municipality of Puntagorda organises the Festival of the flowering almonds. It is usually the last weekend in January or the first weekend in February.
AT this time Puntagorda and the surrounding hillsides are covered in almond blossom.

There is dancing in the streets throughout the night in the Friday and Saturday, sports events and traditional folk music and folk dancing in traditional costume.

On the Saturday afternoon almonds and wine are given away free, and also some locally made almond products (cakes and biscuits).

For photographs of the festival see our sister web site Almond Festival
The Almond Festival has it's own web site at almendros.puntagorda-lapalma.com
