The airport on La Palma is known in the airline-world as Santa Cruz de La Palma and the airport code is SPC. Not to be confused with Palma, Palma de Majorca or Las Palmas.
The airport is situated on the eastern side of the island in the Mazo district. It is about ten minute drive from the island's capital Santa Cruz de La Palma, and just 5 minutes from the holiday complexes and hotels at Los Cancajos.
The airport is small and quiet in comparison to the airports on nearby Tenerife and Gran Canaria. It has one runway. There is seldom more than one charter plane and a couple of inter-island planes at any one time. The airport building is modern but with elements of the traditional Canarian architecture including some wooden balconies. There is a restaurant and shop on the upper floor. There are several cash-dispensers (ATM's) in the main hall. Some car hire companies have offices in the main hall near customs, others have mobile offices in the lower level car park. There is a small office of the La Palma Tourist Board where you can get information, brochures and purchases maps and books.
